Hey guys im looking for some help with my project zxr, hopefully use can help resolve them
Firstly is the hole on bottom of airbox there was no hose or anything, do i need to make something up?
Secondly is the over flow thing from carbys with green tape around hose where does this go as its was just hanging there when bought
Thirdly is hole on top of air box does a hose go there? As air shouldn't by pass filter
Forthly i go start bike to turn it over and makes a buzz noise from what i believe is the fuse box and wont turn over but will turn over most times
Fifth my engine head seems too be louder then ussual noise what i believe might be cam chain stretched or tensioner not working correctly, how do i remover tention to see if its that
Finally thanks for all the help in advance appreciate it

I guess ill take rocker cover off murdo check how slack chain is turn it over by hand make sure its same all the way around if its tight i dare say its just cam chain noise as im so use to my cibby which is gear driven probably stressing over nothing, as its just loud no rattle or tick

The tensioner won't always tell you how bad the chain is. The FZR ones more or less stay in the same position even if the chain is stretched, as it was in my case.

Comparing the old chain against a new one, it was obvious. Though the chain was only stretched by 5mm, you could visibly tell that each link had been stretched.

The ZXR tensioners are known to be dodgy as well. I think the upgrade was one off a newer ninja 250r? I'm not a ZXR expert though.

My opinion - there is truth to what Murdo wrote... :thumb_ups:

I don't think there was any play in mine when tightened.

I haven't replaced mine... I just re-timed everything after doing valve clearances. It may be OK but I'm considering doing it anyway (as I'm currently doing other things so may as well do it all haha).

I would probably start with somewhere like slipstream performance in Brisbane... they can usually order in stuff if they don't have it.

that chain looks average, these engines are noisy btw, cutting the exhaust in half will fix it.

dont be surprised if you do the cam chain and tensioner and its loud in a week again.

Also after looking around everywhere, readong and watching videos ,it seems everyone that gets a new cam chain or a tensioner , there's is rattling again within a month :/
I guess unless your engine has done 30,000kms without it being changed ,then do it
Otherwise just clean it and retention it every month or so haha

Would it be okay if i borrowed some parts and just tested and found outs what is wrong and buy what ever i need?
And apparently my bikes done like 26000 but most of these bikes have been clokced over atleast once

I know its defiently not my starter motor as i by passed the starter solinoid/ relay with a screw driver, so its either starter relay, junction box or electric start button

if you put a screw driver across the 2 solenoid terminals and the starter worked then it is the solenoid.see if you can get to the top of the solenoid by undoing the 2 termanals. inside the cap is copper that when electro magnet is engaged contact 2 copper contacts, 1 to each lead. if you can access clean these and your problem should be fixed.i did this last week to the cbx.
