Picked this up from Grey today and spent a couple of hours fixing it for Richie.
This was the problem from the inside. I blasted it to get as much old paint and crud off as I could.
    sales 006.JPG
First I cut through the previous bits of bird poop that had been put on the cracks so I could get it straight.
    sales 007.JPG
Then heated, welded and ground off. Smoothed the gasket surface on the belt sander for a good fit.
    sales 008.JPG sales 009.JPG
Ready to refit the stator and post.

Murdo you did some job on that :) I haven't been on in a few days I ran out of phone credit we dont even have internet! :-/ I glued up my old one a bit the front cover just to start the bike and it did but after a short while the front casing went in bits :( but the engine sounds healthy. I dont know do I need windings tho some but not all are a bit damaged nd bent a bit too. Dont judge on the front casing I had no jb weld type stuff left lol

This also sheered off I stuck it back on but its not flush its slightly too far forward so there's going to be a gap when the cover is put on should I use gasket maker or something to fill the gap or grind down the face of it

Grey if you happen to have a right hand side mirror in white around the place I would take that also? I can paypal you the money for the stator cover and mirror if you have one around and postage cost monday or tuesday the latest. Just in case I cant get on til then internet useage is limited :-/

Do you know anywhere I would get a new tinted screen my one is in bits and it cost 90 euro delivered from a crowd in the uk but surely there must be cheaper out there?

Great stuff guys your helping a good cause :) so I went about putting my new chain and sprockets on today and my old front sprocket was the type with a spacer on the back the new one did not also the bolt holding yhe sprocket on was hand tight which couldn't have been safe!!. New one Doesnt seem to catch anywhere or cause any hinderance Also fitted 6 new cush drive dampers and I aligned the wheel as best I could I cant test to see how it rides just yet but job seems a good one :) im looking at new fairings (not that I can afford them) on ali express has anyone on here got them there. I saw the same colours I have on the bike that I ordered off ebay but they were about 140 euro cheaper and come with free black screen! 20150804_163909.jpg

Thats great news, I thank you all legends of men @GreyImport @Murdo @Phil without ye I would have been months trying to get these parts!

i cant wait to drive my fizzer again and linkin was right my exhaust clamp is loose at link pipe should I just tighten it up or use exhaust putty and tighten it up?

Yup thats the old 520 I put on the new 428 front and rear and chain from jt racing. I was concerned as the 428 didnt come with spacer like the 520 but it doesnt seem to matter?

And lastly my tyres are 10 years old and have zero grip in the rain they are avon road riders 100/80 17 and 130/70 17 not sure is it the age or are they a summer tyre or a mixture of the two what would be a decent tyre bearing in mind its wet here alot and im also on a tight budget

Take the exhaust off and have a look to see wat condition the join area is in .... theres a fibre like insert in there..... (it may even have asbestos in it ..... ? )

    IMGP1771 (Small).JPG

The 3LN1 takes the 428 front sprocket with no 'lip' , as in flat on both sides ..... later models are different .... the metal spacer behind the sprocket on the spline is a different length.

    http://litetek.co/Sprocket_Drive_Yamaha_FZR250_3LN3.html

At 10 years old your tyres are way past it ... they will be hard as rocks

    http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/tyre-information.1115/

    http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/what-tyre-pressures-are-u-using.1017/

    http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/replace-your-valve-stems.1999/

Everyone has their own opinion about the 'best' tyre ..... have a read in the 'Tyres Wheels and Brake' section , theres a few discussions there.

You have the correct (stock) size tyres on there now so replace them with the same .... and dont let anyone tell u different

I will check it out tomorrow and try to be careful if its not too bad ill tighten it up if its beyond it ill try get a new one Im sure fowlers will stock it.

Mines def 3ln1 anyway so should be safe as houses.

Yea there gone like old boots think they might have been a contributing factor in my crash :( yea the mech said dont go any wider it will ruin the way the bike handles.

Thanks grey ill look at the thread and try make a decision but I need something that will handle the 11 months of rain we get here ha ha also I got a price for the fairings 185 for just the 3 that I damaged or 335 for a full set I wont be getting them for a few months but ive never used ali express only ebay bit nervous about buying there :-/
