you will sort it out. pull a plug lead, lay a new plug on the hed and turn over. blue spark is good, red spark is weak and no spark says trace circuit.

just a few questions to anyone that knows.
it seems like it wont rev, someone from https://www.perthstreetbikes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88095&page=2 said he was having a similar issue with the reg/rec but his bike would kick over (lucky bastard).
Mine never really started without a good rev at the start though.
Since there is 2 coils for the 4 cyl's if one was dead wouldnt the other still work??? and the bike would just run badly?

I feel like it has to be something before the 2 coils but still not sure at this stage i guess without checking for spark and what not.

    **update**
I have a mobile mechanic coming out later on 50$ call out and 50$ an hour to help me diagnose/fix the problem.
I simply don't have time to stuff around trying to figure this out without the correct knowledge or tool/multi meter even though I think I am gonna get a decent multimeter and learn my bike a hell of alot better to avoid these nightmares in future.

Kiff if it turns out to be the cdi can I buy that spare one you have?

If the bike won't start you are missing one of the following:

    Spark
    Fuel
    Compression/air

Since you've made the battery sad you need that fixed up as well.

If you have been cranking and cranking, feel the exhaust headers to see if one is cold.

If the bike roll starts and won't hold an idle, it may be the valve clearances, which happened to Grasshopper's fizzer.

it doesn't exactly roll start it just makes the engine breaking noise and gets some slight electrical power.
it is either completely starved of petrol or none of the spark plugs are working at all.
this thing is even trying to start and twisting the throttle does jack.
I'm hating life because i have a strong feeling a part is gonna need to be replaced (cdi, reg/rec, coil).

I was telling kiff before i think i actually have one of those hong kong cdi's that have the restrictions removed and "unlimited horse power" lol. If it was a hong kong cdi i can say that they kick ass!!! except for the fact it might be broke.
If the mech does say its the cdi I am totally gonna pull it apart and look inside for damage/resolder ect.

outside of that, i stand by the pouring petrol in the air intake of the carbs should have at least made it kick over for a second.
    gotta be electrical (most likely).

    ** oddity **
another person down stairs car wont start either.... engine tries to start and then starts clicking.
Maybe there is someone messing with cars/bikes lol paranoia.
It has crossed my mind a few times now. But working in I.T. i know that things do just stop working sometimes, dont want to go around pointing the finger, even though my neighbor does hate me.

these bikes need good batteries to run, if you need parts, try Xcitebikes.com.au , Omar is in Sydney and from memory, he is near you.

Damus, you need to stop guessing what might be wrong, and pulling random parts out... First you must observe what the bike is doing when you attempt to start it. Does the motor crank over? Do you just here the solenoid clicking? Is the solenoid not clicking?

When the starter motor died on my Ninja 250R, it stopped cranking the engine, but you could still hear the solenoid clicking when you press the starter.

I figured out it was the starter because I was able to roll start the bike.

So, step 1: OBSERVE what the bike is doing. Take a video and upload it so we can get a better idea of what's happening

Did you test your battery Damus? Often something like this is the simplest little thing... batteries can lose cells at the drop of a hat which will cause you to still have power but lower power @ the coils/plugs.

** Update ** pulled the battery out and i own a top of the line lithium battery that weighs as much as a handful of sand.
Got a top mechanic (for once in my life) come out we confirmed no spark anywhere. tested the coils, tested the jumper/clicker or whatever he called it? tested power was going to the cdi (which it was) and tested a bunch of other lines and earths which i cant remember the name of.
mech is 95% on the cdi has shat itself...... so its not gonna start.
if an mc19 cdi is compatible then if my misses lets me ill chuck hers in.
if not i need to buy a new cdi.

(oh charged the battery with a new battery charger. Also bought 4 useless iridium ngk's totally regret that purchase 70$ for iridium jesus.)

Stupid question, but I'm a bit doubtful a CDI unit will just "fail" in a black & white type scenario. I'm not that familiar with the hondas but do they have a side stand switch....? Focus 10 or 15 minutes on that if they do.

The only thing that changed when you turned the bike off and walked away was that you put the stand down, right? I can't see how something could "magically" stop working on it's own....

    last ditch effort but...
