**update** pulled switch block off completely and tested with multimeter, it worked perfectly *cries*.
Also checked fuse box, nothing blown. Main fuse also not blow. All fuses okay.

Tried to look for side stand switch but couldn't see one.

Appart from both the coils magically dying at once im out of ideas.

quick edit/fyi (the kill switch when "on" completes the circuit not breaks it).

    1-29 On the manual.
    Just read it.
The only 2 things that haven't been done is "replace the harness" or "replace the coils".
But i did say check the pulse generator was grounded. I check the resistance between the coupler and that was fine but how does one check it is earthed?

Post photos of your side stand, try and find a wire that goes to it. I'd guess there's one there somewhere...

The service manual actually doesn't state bothering with the side stand. Pretty sure its fool proof.
at this stage there is only 2 things left.

    Coils
    Harness

I would be MORE than happy to replace them both. I now have my old across back so I can get places.
Im fkn sick of this bs, like I really feel like a copped a harsh, strange, evil problem.
I suppose its not as bad as an actual engine fault but I payed 3.5k for what I thought would be a pretty well looked after mc22.

Worst thing you can do is start throwing more $ at the bike without knowing exactly what the problem is.

Your choice if you want to start skipping over things "coz the manual said so".

Electrical problems require a systematic approach and patience, they're a hell of a lot easier to fix then mechanical ones but can be harder to find.

but on a serious note, even with photo's there is no visible switch, it must be behind/internal or something.

@grey well that explains why I couldnt find it haha.

    **update**
Meanwhile, I tested the top of both coils 3.7k resistance on the lowest setting of my meter.
then I turned the meter to 20k ohms to check the secondary coils and am not getting ANYTHING from the top of the coils to where the spark plugs go in. So i checked the leads, leads where good, by passed the leads all together and still nothing.
Was meant to be getting a reading of 11k resistance according to the manual but I am getting squat.
Weird thing is, this is happening on BOTH the ignition coils.
Tell me if i am doing something wrong here but I should be able to get a reading out of the bottom of the coil where the leads go right?

Primary resistance is measured between the + and - wires

These are double-ended coils, so measure the secondary resistance through both spark leads (without the caps).

thanks Grey, that helped heaps, been on the phone with Damus, what we know is:

    1. Pick up coils test okay for resistance- all good
    2. Tested continuity from plug where pickup coils connect to loom over to CDI plug - all good
    3. Tested continuity from CDI plug to ignition coils - all good
    4. tested ignition coils, both ends - all good
    5. Last test is kill switch, Damus is off to test that now, I have one here and have told him how to test the switch with his meter

Hopefully this will be sorted shortly.

    Chris

This could be wrong, and I have not read all 682 posts on the topic to see if already tested.

Is there 12v at the coil positive before and whilst pushing the start button?
    • Yes - Signal from TCI is faulty due to yada yada
    • No - Fault in electrical circuit due to yada yada

anything is worth trying at this point.

I am actually starting to think the prongs inside the engine case somehow magically have been bent....
Everything we check keeps on saying the bike should be getting spark.

And you know for sure that the replacement TCI unit works? Or did someone just tell you that it works?
